Welcome to the Florida
Wing of the Commemorative Air Force website
(CAFFL)
Commemorative Air Force Objectives:
To preserve, in flying condition, a complete
collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military
services of the
United States in World War II.
To provide museum buildings for
permanent protection and display of these aircraft as a tribute to
the thousands of men and women who built, serviced and flew them.
To perpetuate in the memory and
hearts of all Americans the spirit in which these great planes were
flown for the defense of our nation.
To establish an organization
having the dedication, enthusiasm and esprit de corps necessary to
operate, maintain and preserve these aircraft as symbols of our
American military aviation heritage.
The April General Membership meeting
of the Florida Wing,
CAF will be held at the Victoria Gardens Club, 1001
Garden Club Drive, Deland, FL 32724, on April 21 2010. A cash
bar social hour will start at 6PM with dinner served at 7PM.
The program for the evening will be a nature talk by our own
Adjutant, Colonel Ann Conway. Ann has traveled extensively in
search of up-close encounters with Polar Bears, Harp Seal pups,
Beluga Whales and other wildlife. She has a wonderful set
of slides which she will share with us. This is a program not to
be missed! See the March CAFFL Newsletter for details.

CAF Headquarters General Staff has
assigned a TBM Avenger to our CAF Florida (CAFFL)
unit for restoration. Our first task is to
identify what parts we have and to catalogue and
store them for the time they will be used.
We have all the big pieces but have noticed a
number of smaller parts missing from the
project. Parts such as the internal
propeller feathering mechanism. There are
a number of sources which have just about any
parts we may need but we will have to purchase
them. We are also working on the
aircraft's history. We don't know much and
welcome any information about our TBM.
If you have any parts to donate or know our
aircraft's history, please email us
at:
info@caffl.org
Below is a brief history of what we do know
about our aircraft:
The CAFFL Avenger originally served as
an anti-submarine aircraft in the Atlantic.
We know our
Avenger was one of these aircraft fighting fires
in Canada in the seventies.
Currently the CAFFL Avenger is
undergoing restoration at the Florida Wing Deland
headquarters.
The Avenger will be restored to authentic WWII
operational flying status and be featured at air shows
around the country.
